NFL Offseason Preview: Carolina Panthers

Man the Carolina Panthers had such a good start to season and it slip away. The Carolina Panthers started the season with a 6-2 record looking like a team that can contend for a Super Bowl.

But they struggled and quarterback Cam Newton got injured which led them to finish the season 7-9.

The Panthers need to address the defense this offseason because their defense was bad this year. The Panthers have been known for their defense in the past, this year their offense led them to victory.

The needs they need to address is linebacker, cornerback, guard, and wide receiver. But the only have 15 million to play with this offseason, so it will be hard for them to make moves.

They did sign safety Eric Reid to an extension which was good, he played really well for them all season.

In free agency I see them signing wide receiver Terrance Williams who give them size and can catch the ball consistently. Outside of him I do not think they will sign another big name free agent simply because they do not have the money.

In the draft I see the Panthers addressing a lot of hole on defense.

1st: Montez Sweat OLB, 2nd: Julian Love CB, 3rd: Carl Ganderson DE, 4th: Beau Benzschawel G, 5th: Oli Udoh OT.

The rumor going around is that quarterback Cam Newton will be shutdown until next season. So I see the Panthers taking advantage of this draft by getting defensive players who will know the system by then and when Cam comes back he will have defense to back him up again.
