AFC South Predictions

With Andrew Luck retirement the AFC South just became a two team race. Race for the division title is going to come down to the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars. I don’t expect the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans to do that much.

Here are my predictions for the AFC South.

Houston Texans: 10-6

With all the moves made this past weekend the Houston Texans put themselves in a great position to win the division. Acquiring tackle Laremy Tunsil was a great move for the Texans. Watson needs protection and Tunsil brings that.

If the Texans offense can reach their full potential, they might be able to toe-to-toe with the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots.

If the Texans can be consistent in big game opportunities they can 13 games this year. The Texans have roster that can go far in the playoffs.

Jacksonville Jaguars: 9-7

I do believe this year the Jacksonville Jaguars will be better this year. With the addition of Nick Foles at quarterback the Jaguars can be contenders. But what will hold them back is their receiving core.

The Jaguars did not do anything in order to get Nick Foles weapons. When Foles was with the Philadelphia Eagles he had weapons. Now look at the weapons he has in Jacksonville. He only has one running back and a bag of chips. The Jaguars will win games but it will be because of their running game.

Tennessee Titans: 6-10

This might be the last year we will see former Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota wear a Titans uniform. The Titans will only go as far  as their running game takes because of their passing game. It is not good at all.

Over the years we have seen the Titans try to improve their passing game and it has not worked at all. Mariota has not made huge improvements at all. The defense they have can only carry them for so long before they realize they need a new quarterback.

Indianapolis Colts: 5-11

I had huge exceptions for the Colts this year. But, Andrew Luck announced his retirement which changed a lot of things. I thought the Colts were going to go far in the playoffs. But, now I have them finishing last.

A team with a good roster can only take a ok quarterback so far. Look at the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. They had a horrible record. If Jacoby Brissett can play above an average quarterback the Colts can be a contender for the playoffs. They have great offensive line, defense and coach. What might hold this team back is the quarterback.
