In the past 24 hours, we have seen almost if not every professional sport from college to the pros being canceled until further notice.
This mostly started last night when it was announced that Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus, which led to the NBA announcing that the remainder of the season will be canceled until further notice.
Then throughout today the NCAA and other professional sports officially announced that games, tournaments and season will be canceled.
Even other high profile athletes and coaches have tested positive for the coronavirus like Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell and Arsenal’s head coach Mikel Arteta.
Before all of this, every sport heavily considered playing games with no fans in the stands which was the plan until yesterday night.
The thought of a player having the virus then spreading it not only to his teammates but to opponents as well which could lead to many more people outside of their families became a reality.
Canceling all sports was the right decision for all parties because we do not need this virus to spread more than it already has.
Yes, sports is our media outlet away from the real world but this is a health concern and if we want this virus to go away and not potentially kill any more people we all need to be in quarantine for some time.
Sports in not official gone it is just on a pulse for now.
