For the past week or so we have been hearing about the New York Jets contract situation with safety Jamal Adams. Both sides are trying to get an extension done but no progress has been made.
Yes, Adams is arguably the best strong safety in all of football but the Jets need a lot of help in a bunch of areas as well. Their offensive line could use some improvement, they need a number one receiver, and they don’t have a lockdown corner on their roster. It will be hard for the Jets to make improvements if they give Adams the contract extension he wants.
If the Jets want to make a huge improvement on their roster right away they will have deal Adams to another team. So here are the best trade packages for Jamal Adams.
5. Indianapolis Colts
Colts receive: Jamal Adams and a 3rd round pick in 2021
Jets receive: WR Zach Pascal, a 2nd and 4th round pick in the 2021
With signing Philip Rivers to a one-year deal the Colts let everyone now this a win-now year for them. I think the Colts will be more willing to give the Jets valuable draft picks than one their offensive lineman in order to get Jamal Adams.
4. New York Giants
Giants receive: Jamal Adams and a 5th round pick
Jets receive: WR Sterling Shepard and 2021 2nd round pick
If the Jets want to get a receiver for Sam Darnold I personally feel like this is the most realistic deal. Over the past two seasons, the Giants have made questionable trades where everyone sees them giving up too much for too little. So, I think the Jets can steal a very good receive if they play their cards right with the Giants.
3. Detroit Lions
Lions receive: Jamal Adams and a 2021 6th round pick
Jets receive: WR Kenny Golladay and a 2021 5th round pick
If I’m the New York Jets GM I would this would be my dream trade. Kenny Golladay is a very good and underrated receiver in the NFL. He can really help the development of Darnold because he will be the outside threat the Jets offense needs. Also, the Lions need a leader on their defense and they have no one in their secondary that scares anyone.
2. Cleveland Browns
Browns receive: Jamal Adams and a 2022 4th round pick
Jets receive: Rashard Higgins and a 2021 2nd round pick
I don’t really see this trade happening because of the deal, but the Browns have the money to give the extension Adams wants which is huge. Adams wants a contract extension and the Browns can offer him that. Yes, the Jets won’t get that much in return but they can get an outside threat and a 2nd round pick which is pretty good value for Adams.
Cowboys receive: Jamal Adams and 2021 5th round pick
Jets receive: 2021 1st and 4th round pick and a 2022 3rd round pick
We all know the Dallas Cowboys have been trying to get this deal done for some time now and it’s still not done. Yes, the Cowboys are also dealing with the Dak Prescott situation but I think they acquire Jamal Adams. I do believe Dak Prescott might sign the franchise tag because the Cowboys will have a great shot at winning the Super Bowl. If the Cowboys want Adams that bad they need to pay a big price to do it.
