As of today the Miami Heat are up two games to none against the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2020 divisional round of the NBA playoffs. And now everyone is questioning Giannis. Is he overrated?
After watching the past two games against the Miami Heat I believe he is overrated. Not to say Giannis is not great. But, for the past two years many people including myself thought Giannis was a superstar but there are some glaring holes in his game.
He can’t shoot the ball that well, he doesn’t make that many free throws, and he doesn’t take over the game when his team needs him to take over. We saw it last year against the Toronto Raptors and we are seeing this year against the Miami Heat.
Houston Rockets guard James Harden kind of told us that Giannis is not a superstar earlier this season in his interview with ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne.
Harden basically said that all Giannis does is run and dunk. And after seeing the games against the Miami Heat I agree with Harden.
Almost all of Giannis points come from inside the paint. He rarely shoots the ball beyond paint. He would run down the court and dunk or pass it to a shooter.
If Giannis wants to become a superstar in this league he needs to practice shooting the ball outside of the paint. If he can improve on his shooting he could be the best player in basketball.
Last night ESPN analyst Richard Jefferson tweeted that Giannis is more of a Scottie Pippen than Micheal Jordan.
I have to agree with Richard Jefferson Giannis is a star but not a superstar.
